Prudential has launched a series of measures and services against COVID-19 to meet our customers’ needs. We stand by you in fulfilling our commitment to protect public health alongside the people of Hong Kong

Overseas COVID-19 medical coverage

As some countries may require inbound travellers to have an insurance plan that covers the treatment of COVID-19, Prudential has specifically listed the insurance plans that can provide overseas COVID-19 medical coverage according to the policy provisions to meet your travel needs.

Reminder: Epidemic prevention and control regulations of different countries are subject to change. Please pay close attention to the latest entry policies of the destination country.

Special administrative arrangement**From now until 31 March 2023, if the insured person is diagnosed with COVID-19 and thus admitted to a government-specified facilities for treatment purposes, hospital cash payment is also applicable (following the normal claims procedure).

Reimbursement of overseas medical expenses and daily hospital cash payment (if applicable) according to policy terms and conditions for an insured person who has received at least two doses of COVID-19 vaccine as required by the local “Vaccine Pass” of Hong Kong before the overseas trip begins, and is subsequently diagnosed with COVID-19 during the trip. This coverage is not applicable for any insured person who is assessed as medically unsuitable for vaccination and issued with an “Exemption Certificate”.

 For existing customers of PRUChoice Travel and PRUChoice Relocation Care whose policy’s issue date or renewal effective date is before 27 April 2022, if the outbound travel destination is not listed in the “Specific Countries / regions List” relevant to the corresponding policy, the abovementioned protection is available regardless whether the customer meets the vaccination requirement or not. 

Virtual onboarding app

Virtual onboarding allows you to benefit from timely protection despite social distancing and stay-at-home restrictions. Our upgraded Prudential Virtual Onboarding mobile application covers all individual life insurance products, including investment-linked assurance plans that have been included in the scope of remote applications by the Insurance Authority.

Prudential’s professional financial consultants will guide you through real-time virtual meetings, so you can better understand different protection plans, including the product features and details, the level of premium payable, payment period and other terms, etc. Combined with our reliable digital platform, your application process will be secure and convenient.

Relaxation on new application underwriting standards

  • Due to the pandemic’s ever-changing circumstances, if the insured has unfortunately been infected by COVID-19, Prudential will assess their health status in accordance with the new underwriting standards:

 

 

Asymptomatic without the need for hospitalisation

Stayed in general ward or community treatment / isolation facility

Stayed in ICU or ITU

Simplified and flexible claims application procedure

From now until 31 March 2023, Prudential offers special support services for claims applications related to COVID-19:

 

  1. Simplified claims procedures and required documents relating to ‘COVID-19 test’ and ‘COVID-19’

    • Customers only need to complete Part I of the Hospital Claim Form with the proof of a COVID-19 diagnosis issued by the hospital, followed by submission of the original receipt afterwards. Part II of the Claim Form, i.e. the medical certification to be completed by the attending registered physician, can be exempted.

  2. Green Channel for speedy claim applications

    • All claims related to COVID-19 can be submitted to a designated email address. If you need this service, please call our COVID-19 enquiry hotline at (852) 2281 1333 or our Mainland China toll-free direct hotline at 400 8428733.

  3. Extended deadline for follow-up document submissions

    • The submission period has been extended to 4 months to allow customers more time for submissions.

  4. Extended deadline for Special Condition Letter submissions

    • The submission period has been extended to 40 days to allow customers more time for submissions.

Caring for the community

Prudential partners with Oxfam Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Cheung Wah Youth S.P.O.T. to fund frontline cleaners, essential workers, and their families through the Prudence Foundation. We are distributing 30,000 Rapid Antigen Test kits free of charge, to meet the urgent demand for rapid antigen testing supplies.
