Prudential Hong Kong fully supports the launch of JA Goal for Youth Workshops to empower over 1,500 students to plan for their future and to achieve their life goals through sound financial decision-making

Hong Kong, 24 October 2009 - Organised by Junior Achievement Hong Kong (JA) and wholly sponsored by The Prudential Assurance Company Ltd., Hong Kong Branch ("Prudential Hong Kong"), the JA Goal for Youth Workshops were launched today, to instill the value of personal leadership, life planning and financial responsibility among the young people of Hong Kong. Aligned with the direction of the 334 Educational Reform, The initiative, will provide timely support for students to achieve whole-person development through Other Learning Experiences (OLE) and help identify clear direction towards an enriched life.

Under the programme, six JA Goal for Youth Workshops will be held throughout the 2009/10 school year. Over 1,500 Form 4 to Form 7 students will kick-start their life planning, develop their financial literacy, and 'map out' the way to achieve their life goals. Over 300 PRUvolunteers, consisting of Prudential staff and financial consultants, will share their personal and professional experiences with the students and empower them to become socially and financially responsible citizens of tomorrow.

The JA Goal for Youth Workshops Launch Ceremony was officiated by Ms. Christine Fang, Chief Executive, The Hong Kong Council of Social Service, Ms. Florence Lo, Assistant Director - Marketing, Prudential Hong Kong, and Ms. Vivian Lau, Chief Executive Officer, Junior Achievement Hong Kong.

Today's inaugural workshop included over 250 students from 13 secondary schools and 60 PRUvolunteers. The workshop began with an interactive forum hosted by Jimmy Chan, Assistant Director - Academy of Financial Services of Prudential Hong Kong, who shared his experience in personal goal-setting, career and financial planning.

The forum was followed by engaging group activities and discussions led by PRUvolunteers. Students were coached to set their life goals and practice decision-making on how to manage their wealth wisely to achieve personal needs under different scenarios.

"The JA Goal for Youth Workshops aim to enable our young people to develop their vision in life and become financial responsible leaders. Through the goal-setting activity, students will map out the direction in their lives and be encouraged to take ownership of important skills and behaviors for achieving a healthy lifestyle." This program lays a solid foundation for success for our young people and Hong Kong."
