Prudential Hong Kong Limited (“Prudential”) and the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (“HKFYG”)’s inaugural “Hope for Success” programme has reached its climax with a spectacular awards ceremony held on 19 October 2014 honouring 50 successful students and supporting the career dreams of hundreds of Hong Kong’s youngsters.

Mr. Paul Tang, the Secretary for the Civil Service of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region officiated at the closing ceremony, witnessing the students’ achievements and presenting awards in the sum of HK$500,000 to the winners which were sponsored by Prudential.

“Hope for Success” is designed to inspire students in Secondary 3-6 to identify their goals and career aspirations in life. The programme runs through four stages, including career seminars, expert mentorship, essay competition and summer career exploration.

Unique to “Hope for Success”, volunteers were drawn not only from Prudential staff and financial consultants but also from customers, offering students a richly diverse pool of skills and experience to question and explore.

For this inaugural campaign, 50 finalists were selected from 500 entrants after two rounds of contests. The finalists then spent their summer vacation in a variety of career exploration programmes to compete for three award categories. This year saw 18 Gold, 14 Silver and 18 Bronze awards.

Mr. Derek Yung, Prudential’s Chief Executive Officer said: “At Prudential, our work with young people has shown us the incredible impact of inspiring youngsters with skills, hope and vision for the future. Through the inaugural ‘Hope for Success’ campaign, we have broadened the scope of our youth projects and laid a strong foundation to support exciting career development programmes for the coming generations.”

“We are proud to support ‘Hope for Success’ and to help equip these students with the skills and experience they need to maximise their future opportunities,” he said.

With the concerted effort from HKFYG and PRUvolunteers, the inaugural Hope for Success ended with great success.
