As the first insurance company in Hong Kong to offer customers access to advanced science of nutrigenomics for enhanced wellness solution last year, Prudential Hong Kong Limited (“Prudential”) takes its preventive wellness offering to the next level today with the launch of myDNA Pro – a DNA-based, personalized precision health programme specifically designed to help customers identify and reduce “3 Highs” health risks (Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol).
myDNA Pro empowers health management by offering users a simple DNA test and lifestyle assessment to evaluate their overall risk of “3 Highs”. They will also have access to a nutrigenomics report detailing their genes’ impact on diet and fitness, including optimal nutrient needs, food and dietary sensitivities. In addition, this programme also comes with a dedicated myDNA Pro mobile app which features guidance from a personal health coach as well as a unique 16-week Lifestyle Intervention curriculum aiming to help users establish good lifestyle habits and reduce their “3 Highs” risk. The curriculum is developed from a proven course designed by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Mr. Derek Yung, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential said, “The future of health and protection insurance solutions will focus on supporting individuals to establish healthier lifestyles. Prudential has been investing in offering enhancements that help advance the health and well-being of our customers. myDNA Pro is yet another example of our long-standing commitment to providing innovative, high quality products and solutions to meet evolving needs of our customers.”
“According to data from the Census and Statistics Department released in October 2015, nearly a third of the Hong Kong population have chronic health conditions,” added Ms. Celia Chan, Senior Director, Business Development, Health & Protection of Prudential. “myDNA Pro can help individuals take a step ahead as it assists them in identifying their risk of ‘3 Highs’ and, more importantly, supporting them to proactively make lifestyle modifications early on for longer-term well-being.”
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”, and it is certainly true when it comes to the topic of “3 Highs”. Research has shown that 30% of the risk for chronic diseases is influenced by one’s DNA and 70% by lifestyle, and myDNA Pro is designed to enhance the health and well-being of users by guiding and encouraging them to improve dietand exercise habits. With its dedicated myDNA Pro mobile app, users can access numerous unique features which include proactive support from their personal health coach, customized exercise videos, photo food diary and assessment on their daily diets.
Customers who successfully applied for one of Prudential’s selected health insurance plans (PRUhealth critical illness multi-care or PRUhealth critical illness protector) and with first year’s annualised premium of HKD15,000 or more will be enrolled in myDNA Pro. Offers are subject to the terms and conditions. myDNA Pro is supplied by Prenetics Limited (“Prenetics”).
