Prudential rolls out additional free COVID-19 extra benefits, extending diagnosis and death coverage to life assured’s family members

Fight against the virus together with the “We Do” spirit

(5 March, 2020, Hong Kong) Following the launch of the first-in-market free COVID-19 Hospital Cash Benefit (HK$ 600 per day) and an array of measures earlier this year, in response to the continued development of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Prudential Hong Kong Limited and Prudential General Insurance Hong Kong Limited (“Prudential”) today announced that it will provide additional free COVID-19 Extra Benefit.

All customers[1] who successfully apply for any Prudential individual life insurance policy or selected individual / group medical insurance policy (“designated policies”) from today until 30 April 2020 will automatically be entitled to this free COVID-19 extra benefit on or before 31 December 2020 (“coverage period”). The benefit covers both the life assured individuals and their family members with same residential address, through providing a Diagnosis Benefit of HK$15,000. The above eligible customers of any Prudential individual life insurance policy and their family members with same residential address will also be provided a Death Benefit of HK$200,000 within the coverage period.

These Diagnosis Benefit and Death Benefit aim to ensure that the life assured and their family members (“Covered Persons”) to receive prompt support:

Additional free Diagnosis Benefit and Death Benefit for COVID-19

Covered Persons

Life assured and life assured’s spouse, children, parents, siblings and parents-in-law with the same residential address[2]

Diagnosis Benefit

If any of the covered persons is diagnosed of COVID-19 within the coverage period, Prudential will pay HK$15,000 for each of the covered persons, up to a maximum of two covered persons

Death Benefit

If the death of the covered persons is caused directly by COVID-19 within the coverage period, Prudential will pay HK$200,000 for each of the covered persons, up to a maximum of two covered persons.

Covered Persons

All insured persons who own any in force Life Insurance Plans or Personal Hospitalisation Insurance or Group Medical Insurance plans (Including plans taken up before or during the Coverage Period).

Hospital Cash Benefits

If hospitalisation is required after diagnosis of the COVID-19 between 23 January and 30 April 2020 (“date of diagnosis”), all eligible insured persons will automatically receive the free additional Hospital Cash Benefits of HK$ 600 per day up to 45 days during hospitalization without any waiting period

Designated policies include any individual life insurance policies issued by Prudential Hong Kong Limited, and the following medical insurance policies issued by Prudential General Insurance Hong Kong Limited, namely PRUChoice Medical, PRUChoice MediExtra, and Group Medical Insurance.

[1] Customers who take out any eligible policies within the promotion period between 5 March and 30 April and the relevant policy must be issued on or before 30 Jun 2020.

 

[2] Each covered person can only claim the Diagnosis Benefit and Death Benefit once, regardless of the number of policies held within the same family.
