(Hong Kong, 29 June 2026) – Prudential Hong Kong Limited (“Prudential”) today announced the deepening of its strategic partnership with Union Hospital. Building on their existing collaboration in Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service, the partnership now extends the arrangement to cover eligible oncology-related expenses incurred by eligible Prudential customers at the hospital’s Union Oncology Centre (the “Centre”). This initiative broadens access to Prudential’s Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service for eligible oncology-related care, enhancing both the convenience and comprehensiveness of its cancer-related support, and providing customers with greater peace of mind throughout their treatment journey.
Prudential’s 2025 Individual Life Claims Report indicates that cancer is the disease posing the most significant threat to health, ranking first among the causes of both critical illness and death claims last year. Meanwhile, according to the latest statistics from the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, a new cancer case is diagnosed in the city every 14 minutes on average. Before the age of 75, the lifetime risk of developing cancer stands at 25% for men and 20% for women1. These figures highlight the growing prevalence of cancer, as well as the substantial financial burden it places on patients and their families.
Eligible Prudential customers may use Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service for eligible oncology-related medical expenses
In response to the growing demand for specialised oncology care and related financial support, Prudential has further deepened its strategic partnership with Union Hospital by including the Union Oncology Centre as a service provider under its Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service arrangement. Eligible Prudential customers may consult the Union Oncology Centre in advance to obtain medical expense estimates for cancer treatment. Based on individual needs, the Centre will assist in submitting pre-approval requests for medical expenses to Prudential. Upon approval, Prudential will settle the approved medical expenses directly with the Centre after treatment, so eligible customers do not need to pay these expenses out of pocket. This arrangement alleviates immediate cash-flow pressure, enabling patients to focus fully on their recovery.
Located at H Zentre in Tsim Sha Tsui, Union Oncology Centre offers exceptional transport connectivity, sparing day-patients the hassle of daily hospital commutes. It provides comprehensive oncology services in the heart of the city, spanning radiotherapy, drug therapy and oncology consultations. Equipped with advanced radiotherapy facilities and supported by an experienced medical team, the Centre delivers high-quality, personalised and integrated cancer care.
Candy Au Yeung, Chief Customer Operations and Health Officer, Prudential Hong Kong Limited, said: “Facing the prolonged treatment and uncertainties of cancer requires a protection partner who truly walks alongside patients to support both their medical and financial needs. By extending our Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service to eligible treatment at the Union Oncology Centre, we aim to ease the psychological and financial pressure on customers during treatment, giving them peace of mind so they can focus on combating cancer. Through a more seamless direct billing and claims support arrangement, we hope to deliver genuine care and practical support to patients and their families, bringing our customer-centric commitment to life.”
Dr. Yannie Soo, Assistant Chief Hospital Manager of Union Hospital, said: “Battling cancer is a formidable challenge, especially for the growing number of younger patients who are supporting families. Today’s patients need more than exceptional clinical care—they need peace of mind and the flexibility to maintain their daily lives. Union Hospital is proud to partner with Prudential to deliver a truly patient-centric experience.
