In response to the latest regulatory requirements issued by the Insurance Authority and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the names of certain insurance plans will be updated with effect from 24 August 2026. 

This initiative aims to ensure that insurance products with savings features are clearly and accurately reflect their nature as insurance policies, and it is clearly communicated to customers throughout the entire policy lifecycle.

 

ShapeWhat is changing

As part of the latest naming requirements, applicable insurance plans will adopt revised names that include:

  • the term “Insurance” in their English names; and

  • the term 「保險」 in their Chinese names. 

These changes will be applied to existing inforce policies and newly issued policies on or after 24 August 2026 and across a range of products within the scope of name change. 

 

What does this mean to applicable policies issued with existing plan name before the effective date of change?

Please be assured that this is a plan name change only. There will be:

  • No change to the policy coverage, benefits and terms and conditions;

  • No change to the premium payment; and

  • No action required from the customer

Customer notification letters and policy endorsements will be sent to all affected in-force customers starting from early September 2026 to formally update them on this change.
