Prudential enhances digital service and takes the lead with its new “Virtual Onboarding” service to enable remote application

  • Complete the policy application process virtually with financial consultants via Microsoft Teams, a unified communication and collaboration platform, for a wide range of life, savings and protection products
  • In line with its “We Do” spirit, Prudential brings convenience to people in Hong Kong in getting the protection they need from the safety of their homes

(11 June 2020, Hong Kong) - Prudential Hong Kong Limited (“Prudential”)
today announced the launch of its “Virtual Onboarding” service with effect from 19 June 2020. Through this new service, Prudential financial consultants will be able to facilitate the application by customers in Hong Kong for a wide range of savings and protection plans, including life, retirement, critical illness, medical and accident insurance, in an easy and safe way by leveraging Microsoft Teams, a unified communication and collaboration platform.

Using desktop and portable devices, Prudential’s financial consultants can conduct virtual meetings and perform a financial needs analysis and walk through the different products and their features with customers through screen sharing facilities. These features include the product type, level of premium payable, payment period and other terms to help customers better understand them before making a decision. Financial consultants can also complete the application together with their customers, and finalise the document for submission by collecting an e-signature and identification documents from the customer in real time, making the entire process simple, direct and secure.

The “Virtual Onboarding” service is one of the pilot trials under the Insurance Authority’s (IA) Insurtech Sandbox initiative. Having received IA’s approval to roll out this service, Prudential is now one of the insurers in Hong Kong to take the lead in applying innovative Insurtech applications in their business operations.

Prudential will continue to innovate its sales approaches with new, advanced technology, providing more options for customers when taking out insurance plans while further supporting its financial consultants in offering all-rounded and comprehensive services to customers.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has raised the awareness of the importance of health and protection among people across the world and in Hong Kong. Understanding the urgent need for comprehensive coverage, Prudential has launched “Virtual Onboarding” with video conference services,” said Derek Yung, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential. “Through this initiative, customers will receive the protection they need while staying safe during these challenging times. With the facilitation of technology, our professional financial consultants will continue to ensure their customers enjoy seamless, caring and personalised experiences. With our “We DO spirit”, Prudential will continue to safeguard the wellbeing of the people of Hong Kong and fight alongside them against the outbreak.”
