Prudential partners with Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital to enhance cross-border medical network services coverage

(8 May 2025, Hong Kong) Prudential Hong Kong Limited (“Prudential”) today announced that it has become the first Hong Kong insurer to establish a strategic direct partnership with Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital, a member of Shanghai Fosun Health (Group) Co., Ltd. ("Fosun Health"). The partnership will provide eligible Prudential customers with streamlined access to Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service at the hospital.

The new partnership will expand Prudential’s coverage throughout the Greater Bay Area (GBA), part of a broader initiative to develop its cross-border healthcare ecosystem and address the rising customer demand for top-tier cross-border medical network services.

As cross-border travel continues to rise, the demand for cross-border medical services is expected to keep on climbing. Prudential’s "2024 Individual Life Claims Report" shows a 46% year-on-year surge in the use of the Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service, along with a substantial 23% increase in cross-border medical cases involving Prudential customers in the Chinese Mainland. In response, Prudential is expanding its cross-border medical network.

This groundbreaking partnership with Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital is a significant milestone. By extending the Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service to another major city in the GBA, Prudential will provide greater convenience and reliability to even more customers who frequently travel between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland.

Medical Expenses Direct Billing Service for eligible Prudential customers

The partnership enables eligible Prudential customers to consult Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital for pre-approval of medical expenses before treatment. The hospital will then assist customers as they apply for pre-approval from Prudential. Once approved, Prudential will directly settle the pre-approved medical expenses with Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital after treatment. Eligible Prudential customers will also benefit from priority scheduling for medical consultations and room arrangements at the hospital, expediting access to care. With a comprehensive one-stop support system for booking, consultation and treatment, Prudential aims to alleviate customers' mental and financial burdens, enabling them to focus on therapy, recuperation and recovery.
