Update on demerger

Prudential intends to complete the demerger of its UK and Europe business, M&GPrudential, on 21 October, subject to shareholder approval.

The demerger will create two separately listed companies, Prudential plc and M&G plc. Shareholders in Prudential plc at the time of demerger will receive one share in M&G plc for each of their Prudential plc shares. You can find further information here.

This will be the beginning of a new era for both companies. We believe that the demerger will enable both businesses to maximise their potential performance, with experienced management teams better able to focus on their strategic priorities and with distinct investment prospects. Each business will be able to allocate its resources better and will have greater flexibility in execution.

Following the demerger, Prudential plc will be an Asia-led business focused on structural growth markets.
